SUGDEN HOUSE EMIGRATION CANYON
++ Featured in Utah Style and Design
Jespersen Design Associates is committed to helping preserve and restore classic modern architecture. Our communities have many representations of classic modern architectural gems that sit quietly and unassuming. Sadly, too often they go unkempt. Preserving and restoring these important and classic homes is a passion we have. Classic Mid-Century Modernism was the basis for many homes built here in the fifties, sixties and seventies. Neighborhoods like Olympus Cove, the Capitol area and the high Avenues have a significant Modernist element. There are many homes that come on the market that have great upside for restoration and renovation projects.
Our core restoration project was a home by John Sugden in Emigration Canyon. This 1800 sq. foot home is located on a half acre right off the Emigration Creek. Years of neglect and decay left the house almost unrecognizable as a modern classic. Our work entailed a reroof to restore the natural horizontal lines of the house, complete reflooring, removing added walls not true to the original plan, removing aluminum siding and restoring the original vertical wood siding and updating the kitchen and bath areas. We also replaced the single pane windows with commercial quality sliders and fixed panels. Outdoor areas addressed included walks, lighting, sod and plantings, patios and decks.
Our firm also works with clients that are looking to create new spaces for their home. Additions and renovations create new spaces and update properties at a fraction of the cost of new construction. Please inquire to learn more about our solutions in this area.
